- Research activity
- Practice creating shapes with Illustrator (no textbook CD files needed).
- Follow the directions in pp. 229-243 of Chapter 7 to draw checkerboard and checkers. No need to print the project at the end.
- Follow the directions in pp. 247-252 of Chapter 7 to draw a lighthouse.
- Save the resulting files on your storage device.
- Show what you did during the next presentation, earning up to 2 points.
- Lab activity
- Create your own chess pieces.
- Use the knowledge acquired in the practice session (especially drawing the lighthouse) to draw pawn, rook, knight, bishop, king, and queen to go with the checkerboard.
- Show the finished chess set during the next presentation, and collect up to 3 points more.
- Home activity
- Review all of chapter 7 (pp. 221-252 of the textbook).
- Bring to class a map (either on paper--which you will scan as part of the project--or digital), to be used in the next lab session. For instance, find a road map showing where you live and/or work.
