- Research activity
- Practice Photoshop image adjustments using the sample files on the textbook CD.
- Follow the directions in pp. 95-107 to work with the files Light1.tif and Light2.tif in the Chapter 03 folder. We are skipping the first part of the exercise (printing and scanning back into the computer) and working directly with the files provided on the textbook's CD.
- Save all 4 resulting files (print and web versions of each initial image) on your storage device.
- Show what you did during the next presentation, earning up to 2 points.
- Lab activity
- Scan and adjust the two pictures you brought from home.
- Assume that they will be used for a print job, using a 100 LPI halftone on lettersize paper.
- Hint: this is a clue for choosing scanner settings.
- Save the initial scans, and make duplicate files.
- Working on the duplicates, use the knowledge acquired in your research activity to make any necessary adjustments.
- The results need not be realistic, they may express a mood or concept. Keep in mind that the two images will be combined eventually.
- Copy all 4 resulting files (initial and adjusted version of each image) on your storage device
- Show the before-and-after of your well-adjusted pictures during the next presentation to collect up to 3 points more.
- Home activity
- Read the rest of chapter 3 (pp. 81-117 of the textbook).
- Look over the pictures from your lab activity, and plan for effective ways to combine them. Consider that you will be able to extensively edit and reshape the images, using tools and commands you will learn in the next session.
